Condition application

Neutralization Reaction

To protect the water supply system, industrial wastewater is neutralized to be neither acidic nor alkaline before discharge. Neutralization occurs when a reagent of acid and base is added to a tank of waste water. Sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide and calcium carbonate are the most commonly used additives.

Liquid-liquid Extraction

Liquid-liquid extraction (LLX), or solvent extraction or fractionation, is the process of selectively separating and concentrating valuable substances from aqueous solutions by using organic solvents. LLX can be used as an alternative when distillation is not effective. LLX is used in pharmaceuticals, food and agroprocessing, organic and inorganic chemistry, hydrometallurgy and flavor and fragrance production.

Liquid Ammonia Storage

Vaporized ammonia is used for emission control in catalytic and non-catalytic reduction systems. Liquid ammonia is injected into the flue gas stream to act as a reducing agent. It is also used to increase the efficiency of dust collectors in controlling particulate matter. Pure ammonia is stored in a pressure vessel rated at 250 to 300 psig. Ammonia (70% to 80% water) is stored in a tank rated at 25 to 30 psig. The storage capacity of aqueous ammonia is three to four times that of pure ammonia.

Lime Slurry Level

In terms of annual tonnage, lime consumption ranks first among water treatment chemicals. Lime is used for pH adjustment, phosphate removal, sludge and biosolids conditioning, etc., and in combination with other chemicals. Lime is initially mixed with water in a slaker to form a slurry called lime slurry. Then under strictly controlled conditions, the lime slurry is added to the raw water for deployment.

Vapor-liquid Separation

Where vapor-liquid separation is required, such as a knockout drum, knockout tank, flash drum or compressor suction drum, it is integrated into the process unit. The separation vessel receives the flashed liquid mixture, which is then gravity separated and descends from the top vapor outlet to the bottom.

Steam Drum

Chemical companies use steam for cleaning, drying, fermentation, stripping, etc. Steaming in place (SIP) is a method widely used for in-line sterilization, including in-line sterilization of containers, valves, production lines and filter components, etc. Steam is produced in a boiler where hot water is converted to steam under pressure.

Condenser

After the steam completes an expansion process in the steam turbine, the volume of the exhausted steam shrinks sharply, and a high vacuum is formed in the space originally filled with the steam. The condensed water is transported into the boiler through the condensed water pump, so as to ensure the continuous progress of the entire thermal cycle. In order to prevent pipeline corrosion caused by the increase of oxygen content in condensed water, a vacuum deaerator is also installed in the condenser of a modern large-capacity steam turbine.

Chlor-alkali Process

Chlorine and alkali (NaOH) are among the top 10 chemicals produced globally and are key ingredients in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, cleaners, disinfectants, herbicides, pesticides and PVC, among others. Chlorine and sodium hydroxide are made from electrolytic brine (NaCl).

Chemical Injection

Reagents are injected into process streams in specific industries to alter or impart new product characteristics or enhance processing dynamics. Injection systems and chemical skid systems offer different dosage control options. The whole process requires liquid level detection and flow monitoring of injected reagents.

Stirring and Mixing Systems

Stirring and mixing of liquid ingredients is essential throughout the chemical industry. Includes intermittent and continuous stirring and mixing of liquids. In process vessels, impellers are often used to accomplish agitation of mixed liquids.

Buffer Tank

Surge tanks are often located between process units to help reduce the effects of flow variations between interconnected process units. A buffer tank level that is too low can result in reduced production, while a level that is too high can cause liquid material to be carried over.

Chemical Reactor

Chemical, polymerization and pharmaceutical processes utilize reactor vessels to control chemical reactions. The chemical reaction rate and product quality are usually controlled by external heat exchangers for raising the temperature and cryogenic systems for lowering the temperature.
